Sat 16th March 3.30pm : Perioperative Management of Brachycephalic Patients
The growing popularity of Brachycephalic breeds in the past decade has seen an explosion in the number of squished face patients snorting their way through our clinic doors. Unfortunately, due to their abnormal conformation, they commonly suffer from Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). Brachycephalic dogs with BOAS have been found to be twice as likely to experience post-operative anaesthetic complications, which in some cases, can lead to death. In this lecture we’ll dive into BOAS and the perioperative strategies we can implement in our practices to reduce the likelihood of complications in these patients.
