After almost 30yrs in the industry I have finally come to accept that, although our patients seldom follow the text books and there are often shades of grey, common things still happen commonly. However, knowing what is common can be difficult when you are starting out. In this informal session, I will be discussing the importance of a thorough physical exam and a good concise history in establishing baseline diagnostics.
I will be sharing my experiences as a diagnostic pathologist and we will look at some examples of common diseases and consider how site, history, signalment and lesion description can be very powerful tools in helping us establish some simple differential lists. Although this talk may be most useful for those early in their careers, it will also be hopefully be a good review for those more experienced vets.
